Meet your Doula 

Emerald Fleming

Emerald Fleming, located in Richmond, VA is a trained Doula and Perinatal Health Specialist. 

Emerald earned her undergrad degree in Community Health B.S., from George Mason University in 2020. Within her degree, Emerald studied Women's Health, African American Studies, and Public Health. Her passion for birth work came in her sophomore year of undergrad when hearing the story of Kira Dixon-Johnson Kira a black woman who unfortunately lost her life 11 hours after childbirth. Emerald made it a mission to ensure that this did not happen to any other mother. 

With starting Dou To Be, this was only a puzzle piece in her full plan. Emerald will also be earning her MPH in Maternal and Child Health from The University of Minnesota, School of Public Health. A top 20 program to further study policy, health equity, and disparities that are affecting Maternal and Child Health.
